Our trip was full of bright emotions and suprisings. People there are very mature and friendly. We lived by couchserfing in one family with only one year child. The coucher was a bus driver and he said that his salary is enough to live in their own house in Bergen. However we sleeped outside cause the house was too small.
Norway is famous for its fiords and nature and it really worth seeing. Next our point to stay was Hardanger fiord. Here you can find some kind of guide and accomodation http://www.hardangerfjord.com. We lived in a small but cosy house with kitchen but without toilet (it was in special public building few meatres far from the house). The price per night was 50€, but there were 4 beds, so it could be very cheap for family or small company. By the way all houses we rent in Norway were for 4 persons, but even when you come alone you should pay the whole cost for house. The most expensive place was 100$ per night on the beach of the fiord, it included kitchen, wi-fi, toilet and terrific view on the fiord from the balcony. We also could take a boat for a rend and fishing. Of caurse you should look through a lot of offers to find suitable.
We moved from place to place by hitchhiking, cause the public transport was rather expensive.
The food is expensive too, but if to buy in shop and cook yourself it would be allowably.
So we liked a lot this country, its people and nature, but in fact this is more suitable for the family holiday and it is perfect to live there if you are >40 years old.
So have a nice trip to Norway, very friendly country with intelligent people. Also remember that the climate is rather cold and rainy even in summer
