Last september we decided to walk up the 100 miles from Milngavie to Fort William konwn as the first part of the West Highland Way...
Day 12013/08/20
Boarding the train to Glasgow where the path begins
Day 22013/08/21
Fantastic view from Conic Hill on Lomond
To much rain in the first days - was praying for a hot meal and a beer since I got up at this
enjoying the scenery...
Day 32013/08/22
Resting in the noonday sun - felt a bit like being in the Carabeen after the first days
Day 42013/08/23
Reaching the wilderness
Lots of stairs and bumpy trails made the second half of the day a neverending sports class
reaching the end of Loch Lomond
We had to wind up an orange balloon as a sign that we want to cross the lake - 15 minutes later the ferryman came from across the lake to pick us up
The bridge leads to another tavern which became my favourite friends on the trip
Day 52013/08/24
This beautiful free campsite is on a little island in the middle of a river - when we got up we got stung by a freakin million midgets - I would highly recommend a mosquito net!
the bridge of Orchey - we cheatet for about 20 miles and took a bus :)
Day 62013/08/25
nearly reaching the highest point of our journey - it's just about 1600 ft - still a nice view
end of the day after first shower in days
looking down on Kinlochleven an old miners community - it redeveloped as a tourist spot
Day 72013/08/26
last day of walking starts with friendly weather - it's hard to say goodby from the highlands
finished! 5/5 stars would definitly walk again - great experience
last stop: whisky land!
