t’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Lawrence’s food! So, you can imagine how happy I was when I first heard they would open a butcher shop. My dream has come true. Now I can buy Lawrence’s delicious homemade bacon and use it in my recipes at home! Lawrence Boucherie, located just a few steps from Lawrence restaurant in the Mile End, opened its doors a couple of months ago to offer locally and respectfully raised meat, charcuterie and sandwiches, as well as dairy, eggs and more from small independent producers.

Everyone knows that the best poutine is the one that you eat at 3 a.m. after partying hard with your friends. I mean, what could be better than a sticky, hot burst of poutine in your mouth on a cold winter night? So, whenever the drunk in me is craving for a delicious bowl of fat and cholesterol, Chez Claudette is the place to go.

As main dish, I ordered the Organic mushroom barley risotto with sautéed kale and zucchini ($18). The risotto was extremely ‘creamy’ and the mushrooms tasted amazing.

After the tough decision of giving up the French Toast, I ordered Le Champi ($18) which consisted of a Scotch egg served on top of a rustic bread toast with mashed potatoes, red pepper compote and an amazing mushrooms sauce. The combination was simply divine! Indeed, it was a bit more expensive than other dishes but, at the end, I was very happy with my choice!
