Erta Ale is a continuously active basaltic shield volcano in the northeastern Ethiopia, known as the volcano situated in the lowest place in the world, and a badland desert area spanning the border with Eritrea. Erta Ale is the most active volcano in Ethiopia.
"Danakil Depression" called the hottest and most inhospitable place on earth, is located in the north Ethiopia near the border with Eritrea. There is on African Great Rift Valley and more than 50 degrees C in summer. So there are active volcanoes, hot sulfur springs, salt lakes ...it's so surreal that we don't feel like being on earth at all.
