This is Oshin-ko-shin water falls.
Also known as Twin Beauties Waterfall, because the waterfall splits into two parts about halfway down.
You can experience the dramatic energy of the waterfall by walking up the stairs that lead about halfway up the falls.
From the observatory at the top of the waterfall, you can also see views of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko mountain range.
Oshinkoshin Waterfall has been included in the "100 Waterfalls of Japan".
Shiretoko, a new natural heritage site registered only in July 2005, is considered to be the last pristine wilderness remaining in Japan.
Shiretoko is a long narrow peninsula located in northeastern Hokkaido.
The volcanic Shiretoko mountain range runs down the center of the peninsula and includes the highest peak of the range, Mt.Rausu(1661 m above sea level).
This is Kamui-wakka water fall, hot spring water fall containing contents of sulfur!
Kamui-wakka means "water of God" in Ainu language.
Ainu is indigenous people in Hokkaido and almost all name of districts and cities named after Ainu language.
Ainu people was afraid of this water fall then put the name " Kamui-wakka".
and the active volcano Iou-sanThe Sea of Okhotsk lies on the western side of the range and the Nemuro Straits on the eastern side. The coastline cliffs facing the Sea of Okhotsk rise up more than 100 m high, and you can glimpse waterfalls large and small cascading directly into the sea, and colonies of seabirds.
Boat cruise took about 2 hours.
We started from harbor and went ahead to the end of peninsula when we were on the middle of the way, boat turned around and went back to the harbor.
There are two courses, sulfur mountain course, which we took and cape Shiretoko course, which go to the end of peninsula and take 4 hours!
After enjoyed Peninsula cruise I went to 5 lakes of Shiretoko.
At this place you have a chance to see wild bears.
I took walking trail and went to 1st lake this time because I was in the group tour and was little short of time to see all of lakes.
Because if you want to see all 5 lakes you have to have lecture of rangers how to deal with wild bears when coming across.
Then, you talk a foot pass to see all lakes.
I will try next time.
