One of the most famous local specifically in Shizuoka prefecture is Sakura-ebi(桜エビ)shrimp.
The shrimp is only caught in this region between Spring and Autumn. I went there to eat some nice local dishs using the shrimp(^_^)

This station "Yui" is close to the fishing port where you can enjoy the local specifically.
About Yui Station (由比駅)
Outside of the station, there are some signboards indicating some tourist attraction in this area.
And you can see a large gate of Sakura-ebi shrimp like this.

Let's go to the port(^_^)
On my way to the port, I noticed some small fish were drying outside of a ordinary house.
These were local sourced Japanese anchovy. we call it "Katakuchi Iwashi(カタクチイワシ)" in Japanese.
And these were dried whitebait.
Arrived at the Yui fishing port.
A lot of fishing boat for Sakura-ebi shrimp were visible
It looks like some shop is opening over there.
This shop is called "Hamano kakiageya(浜のかきあげや)". They serve several kind of set meals using Sakura-ebi shrimp.
They open at 10am～3pm. But, the shop is gaining popularity with many tourists, some meal will be quickly sold out.
This is what I ordered. A set meal consisted Sakura-ebi shrimp&whitebait bowl, Sakura-ebi miso soup and Sakura-ebi tempura.
This rice bowl is using Sakura-ebi shrimp and whitebait on the top. all ingredients are local sourced in Shizuoka prefecture(^_^)
It was so delicious!
At this place, you can also enjoy nice scene of the fishing port while eating. I'd say that nice ambience could be a great flavor enhancer(^O^)
