I came here on a recommendation from a friend who knows I love beef tongue tacos and he said, “Go to Uncle Moe’s!” I immediately got excited and I went and uhhhhhh no beef tongue tacos, apparently not very popular with this Flat Iron crowd that they had to take off the menu. Okay so I kept cool and order two carne asada tacos and a small fountain drink ($9.45 kind of pricey). Well… let us just say that Uncle Moe’s is really known for their burritos and not their tacos. Again, I’m not hating I just don’t like a dry tortilla, and it’s hard for these places because sometimes in order to go for healthy they compromise on taste. So if I gave thumbs down to Tortilleria Mexicana Los Tres Hermanos for their tacos, Uncle Moe’s has to get it too. Their burritos are good but this isn’t a burrito

Ah, the Yelp definition of a three star review is accurate for my experience at Naked Taco. Nothing bad, but nothing spectacular either. I'll get right off my chest that the 18% automatic gratuity - a pet peeve of mine - is charged again proving my theory that automatic tips kills good service. Also, I wasn't given that complementary aperitif shot I see mentioned in a bunch of other reviews. I guess it boils down to the fact I wasn't wowed by service or food. From what I understand, the theme is supposed to be an interpretation of street food but at least this Sunday I didn't notice a significant difference in the food from one of the ethnic Mexican restaurants I go to in the hood. The chicken fajitas were about the same, right down to the red peppers I love. I will give them points for the multicolored chips and three salsas. The salsa verde in particular gets high marks for the rich and spicy taste. The Tamarind Grind drink was a nice and potent, perfect for Sunday day drinking at the beach. Maybe next time I'll just stick to drinks and apps...
